Tips to Become More Organised

Hiya guys and welcome back to my blog!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely week, mine has been super busy as always! It’s been a while since I last posted a blog post and I have missed it so much! As I am a student nurse, I have been on placement for four weeks now, the first week was spent on an infectious disease ward, the second in a dementia nursing home, the third with the community mental health nursing team and this week and next I’m with the learning disability community team. I am absolutely loving it so far and I am really looking forward to future weeks on placement.

Since life’s been so crazy recently, I’ve been really trying to stay on top of things and be organised. So in today’s post I thought I would share a few tips on how to stay organised and be productive! So let’s get into it!

1. Make a To-Do list

I don’t think I could actually function without making to-do lists! They help me to keep on top of all my tasks without forgetting anything. I also love the satisfaction of ticking things off as I go and seeing my list of jobs getting smaller. I keep a list on my phone of small jobs I need to do each day then I have a notepad at home with my bigger tasks on!

2. Make use of a calendar

I am absolutely rubbish at remember dates for things, whether that’s birthdays, days on placement or other events. So this year I bought a calendar and wrote in all the important dates for the year and I continue to add more as things come up. This works really well for me as I always know what’s happening in the coming weeks!

3. Declutter your surroundings

I completely believe that a tidy room = a tidy mind. If my room is a mess I feel completely disorganised and I just can’t get productive! So I like to make sure everything has a home and I make sure to regularly sort through my things and get rid of items that I don’t use or need anymore.

4. Use music

Music makes me so much more productive. Whenever I need to get stuff done I just whack on my favourite playlist and get on with whatever I need to get done. I use Spotify as it has a playlist for any occasion so I can always find something perfect!

6. Tackle one task at a time

There’s no point in trying to do loads of things all at once because you may begin to feel overwhelmed and might not do as a good of a job as you hoped to. So work through each task one by one and you’ll quickly chip away at your list!

7. Break up the big tasks

By breaking it up your biggest tasks, it makes everything seem so much more manageable. It means that you can tick away the little tasks which makes the big job easier.

8. Take time for yourself

This is so important! Life can be stressful and overwhelming so don’t forget to take a step back and de-stress. I am currently planning a post with tips on how to unwind and relax. This will be coming soon to the blog!

Love the tips. I use a bullet journal to stay organised and an iCal on my phone for dates so I can see birthdays etc that are coming up whilst I am out shopping. It’s great to see how everyone has their own way of staying organised. I just need to work on the tidy room bit and making time for myself now x

I couldn’t of read this post at a better time! I’m starting Uni again tomorrow and I definitely want to stay on top of things this semester. Last semester wasn’t too bad but I still had some time management issues towards the end. Thank you for sharing!

I’m somebody who likes to keep organised (when it’s possible!) to-do lists are such a great way in keeping on top of things. I also use a calendar to write down important dates and appointments etc, usually the one on my phone and also the one I have in my bedroom! xx

The to-do list! Love a good to-do list! One thing that myself and my mum do, is work for 45 minutes, then take a 15 minute break. It reallys helps keep down distraction and keep you organised with your time to get things done.
